In conjunction with the 6th ATRA Tourism Forum, 17th Graduate Research Colloquium held on 27th June 2019. The Graduate Research Colloquium (GRC) is a postgraduate research seminar organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences and Leisure Management at Taylor’s University. The colloquium theme, Tourist Gaze 3.0 places emphasis on actual travel-related issues pinpointing them with relevant examples from the contemporary societies and the emerging trends of the industry. In a simplified definition, tourist gaze 3.0 highlights the contemporary tourists’ real perception and expectation from the tourism industry. The Keynote address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Miguela M. Mena from University of the Philippines focusing on tourist gaze 3.0 in ASEAN region.
This colloquium has catered an avenue for the postgraduate students to present the research progress and findings at various stages. A total number of 17 papers were received for presentation from Taylor’s University and several other research universities of Malaysia. The concurrent sessions of presentation were attended by various research scholars form ASEAN region. The academic review and debate of the scholars have made the sessions highly beneficial not only for the presenters but also for other postgraduate students who were present to gain prior knowledge and experience on research and academic writing. At the end of the session, one paper was selected by the organizing committee to be awarded the best paper award. “The Influence of Place Attachment on Pro-Environmental Behavior of Eco tourist in Taman Negara Pahang, Kuala Tahan, Malaysia” by Thanam Subramaniam was chosen due to the quality of the paper and oral presentation.
